Lyrica Chamber Music was founded in 1987 by the pianist Mariel Bossert, and has become one of the longest running chamber music series in Morris County history.

Lyrica brings musicians of national and international stature to perform in an informal, intimate, and welcoming community setting, and to conduct residencies in collaboration with local community partners.

Over three decades, these artists have included Grammy winners and nominees, such as the Enso and Emerson String Quartets, as well as the Attacca, Ariel and Tesla Quartets, members of Imani Winds, string players such as Mark Kaplan, Tessa Lark, Rachel Lee Priday, Arnaud Sussmann, Joshua Roman, Samuel Rhodes, and the late Joseph Silverstein.

Lyrica has sponsored a Young Composer’s Competition, a chamber orchestra, and has released a commercial recording of music by Nancy Galbraith.

Decoda, the Affiliate Ensemble of Carnegie Hall, has become an unofficial ensemble in residence at Lyrica, bringing along its uniquely innovative approach to performance and community engagement.

The Sundays@3pm concert series has long been hosted by the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township on Southern Blvd., beloved for its stunning acoustic that are both warm and clear.

Lyrica remains committed to providing the highest quality chamber music for the lowest possible price, and depends on the generosity of its supporters.

Lyrica has consistently provided opportunities for young artists and composers to work alongside established colleagues.

Currently serving as Artistic Directors are pianist David Kaplan, who came on board in 2011, and cellist Ani Kalayjian, who joined him as Co-AD in 2018. Lyrica’s distinguished “emeritus” artistic directors include composer/conductor Adam D. Waite and violinist Laura Bossert.
